About The Position

Prepare breakfast line and prepare for lunch service. Primary responsibilities will include basic food preparation while using and learning proper use of kitchen equipment. Assist in maintaining the company standard of cleanliness, sanitation and safety in the kitchen.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year experience working as a prep cook
  • The ability to work with other people effectively and with other staff positions is important.
  • Must be trainable and take instruction to learn position.
  • Must be able to lift at least 20lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Have full use of eyes and ears, full power of speech.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, well enough to give instructions, relay information, and carry on effective interchange with customers, vendors, and company staff.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing food items for Kilbourn City Grill's Breakfast line and prepping lunch service and banquets
  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
  • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
  • Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience as applicable.
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Duties include washing, chopping, and slicing vegetables, meats and other food items.
  • Set up workstations, maintain kitchen equipment and ensure food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Create the highest guest satisfaction possible by having a clean, organized, well stocked work area.
  • Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Determine, communicate, and monitor personal and department achievements and performance standards on a daily basis.
  • Perform other culinary duties as assigned.
