About The Position

The Breakfast Cook at Destination Geneva National is responsible for preparing and delivering exceptional breakfast offerings from a singular kitchen serving both the Member’s side (Member Tap) and resort/public side (turf). This role is situated within the Clubhouse, which features turf kitchen + tap and Member Tap Room, offering panoramic golf course and lake views and an inspired menu for various dining options.

Requirements

  • Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours per shift
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Push/pull up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and crouching
  • Use hands and fingers for chopping, mixing, and plating
  • Work in hot, humid kitchen conditions
  • See and hear well for food prep, safety, and communication
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of dishes including breakfast tacos, croissant sandwiches, pancakes, oatmeal, bacon, smoothies, and other breakfast items, following established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Prep for lunch service, including chili and the daily soup special.
  • Ensure the freshness, quality, and consistency of all breakfast offerings.
  • Coordinate with the restaurant team to efficiently execute breakfast service and meet guest expectations.
  • Utilize proper cooking techniques and methods to achieve optimal flavor, texture, and presentation of breakfast dishes.
  • Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and plating to ensure accurate and timely delivery of breakfast orders.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff to synchronize the preparation of multiple dishes and maintain a smooth breakfast service flow.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including HACCP and local health regulations, to maintain a safe and clean breakfast kitchen environment.
  • Properly handle, store, and rotate food products (using FIFO) to ensure freshness and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Ensure that all breakfast dishes meet or exceed the resort's standards for taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
  • Apply artistic and creative touches to enhance the visual appeal of breakfast plates.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to maintain consistency in breakfast presentation and taste across all dishes.
  • Work collaboratively with the breakfast team to ensure efficient breakfast service.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to facilitate smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist and support other kitchen staff (including in other resort/hotel kitchens) as needed, fostering a positive and cohesive work environment.
