About The Position

The Breakfast Cook supports the Market Grille morning operation by preparing a variety of hot and cold breakfast foods. The role includes preparing ingredients, assembling dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications, and helping keep kitchen operations running smoothly. It is a fast-paced kitchen position focused on quality food and customer service.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in varied situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation where applicable.
• Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and provide prompt, friendly service.
• Prepare cooking surfaces and ready the kitchen for service.
• Prepare vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast foods according to recipes and specifications.
• Place food in hot cases, monitor quantities, and refill as needed.
• Prepare items for upcoming shifts.
• Stay knowledgeable about menu items and take guest orders as needed.
• Order products and supplies when necessary or notify the department head of needs.
• Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
• Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
