About The Position
As a Branch Sales Associate, you will provide solutions and connect with walk-in customers through guidance, product knowledge, and a positive attitude. You will maximize sales opportunities, build customer loyalty, and exceed customer expectations. The role also involves shifting between customer assistance and a variety of warehouse tasks. This position is based at 6335 N Basin Ave., Portland, OR 97217, and reports to the Branch Manager. The targeted start date is January 3, 2027.
Requirements
- Flexibility to work at any time within the branch's hours of operation.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and heavier loads with assistance.
- Ability to learn and operate powered industrial equipment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the customer experience, including product selection, accurate order entry, safely picking products, and safely loading customer vehicles.
- Identify ways to maximize sales opportunities and encourage customer loyalty.
- Adapt communication style for different audiences when communicating by email, phone, or in person.
- Pick, prepare, and stage will-call orders and shipping products.
- Prepare customer backorders and put away received stock.
- Help with merchandising and replenish the showroom.
- Perform inventory counts.
- Learn and navigate computer systems used for customer-facing and warehouse activities.
- Perform housekeeping tasks to ensure the branch meets Grainger appearance standards.
- Follow safety guidelines and process standards, including wearing personal protective equipment.
