A Bookseller is an integral member of the bookstore team who welcomes customers, answers questions, and helps readers find suitable books and other products. The role also supports efficient store operations by maintaining attractive displays, unpacking and shelving deliveries, keeping sections and backstock organized, and operating registers to provide professional, friendly service. Booksellers are expected to demonstrate reliable attendance, flexibility in responding to store scheduling needs, a positive and energetic approach to work, consideration toward colleagues, cheerful customer service, and a willingness to learn. The store is open from early mornings to late evenings every day, including weekends and most holidays. Booksellers may also work at other stores when needed and able, supporting the wider Cluster. Training covers operational and merchandising skills, use of store technology, register operation, delivery receiving and shelving, product lookup, café support when needed, and loss prevention and de-escalation procedures. As they gain experience, Booksellers develop knowledge of books and other store categories, maintain sections and backstock, make recommendations, and support sales initiatives and new releases. Booksellers who master the role are expected to advance to Senior Bookseller. The position requires compliance with company policies and procedures.
