About The Position

The Boat Attendant provides friendly, courteous service and a safe boating experience for guests at the Blue Heron Boathouse at Stow Lake. The role helps prepare and maintain the boathouse, boats, dock, dining areas, and common areas, and supports management in ensuring boat attendants are properly trained and deliver excellent customer service. The position is listed as part-time with full-time potential.

Requirements

• Must be available to work weekends.
• Excellent customer service and people skills.
• Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Must be able to meet and/or exceed customer expectations.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Frequent bending, twisting, lifting, and squatting are required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of customer service and/or food and beverage experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the boathouse for the day by stringing boats to the dock, placing life jackets and cleaning supplies outside, and moving trash receptacles to designated areas.
• Assist guests with boat rentals and safely help them load into and unload from boats.
• Keep boats clean, ensure batteries are charged as needed, and properly stow and clean boats in the boathouse at the end of the day.
• Hose down and maintain the cleanliness of the dock area at the beginning of the day, and remove trash at the end of the day.
• Perform weekly upkeep, draining, and cleaning of boats inside and outside the boatshed, following the weekly cleaning schedule.
• Assist in dining and common areas by sweeping, setting up and breaking down chairs, opening and closing shutters, wiping down and sanitizing surfaces, emptying trash, cleaning bathrooms, and consolidating trash into black containers.
• Help create a positive work environment and promote teamwork.
• Follow company safety procedures when handling the boat fleet and professionally inform guests of safety expectations.
• Work with management to help ensure boat attendants are properly trained and provide excellent customer service.
