Miller's is proud to provide training for those interested in a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant free of charge. Each student is required to complete classroom training and clinical training. Upon completion, students must pass the state exam to become a Certified Nurse's Aide. This program requires students to complete 36-40 hours of classroom work and pass all tests administered during the classroom portion with at least 80% (with 3 attempts allowed). Following the classroom phase, students must complete 75 hours of supervised practicum in a long-term care facility, performing all required skills successfully. The initial 16 hours of practicum will be with the class instructor, and absence during this time will result in dismissal from the program. Students may be assigned a preceptor for assistance with organization and time management during the practicum. Evaluations will be completed by the preceptor and instructor at the program's completion. All skills checklists must be demonstrated and signed off during clinicals by the clinical instructor or another licensed nursing professional, and submitted upon completion. A daily "clinical sign-in record" must be completed by the student and co-signed by a licensed supervisor, including the date and actual hours worked. Attendance to all classroom sessions is mandatory, and unsatisfactory performance or attendance may lead to dismissal. Students must also pass a criminal background check, TB test, and physical prior to starting the course. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate, a scheduled test date, and have their state exam paid for by Miller's Merry Manor if hired and in good standing. The exam may be retaken and paid for a second time by Miller's if the student is an employee. If not an employee, the student will be responsible for scheduling and paying for their own test.
