Birthday Party Host - Part time
About The Position
The Birthday Party Host facilitates positive guest experiences during birthday parties at Seneca Park Zoo. Hosts serve food, facilitate crafts and games, and share information about the Zoo with groups of up to 60 people while creating and maintaining a safe, fun, and engaging atmosphere. The position works flexible hours and scheduling on weekends and reports to the Birthday Party Coordinator. It is non-exempt and pays $16–$16.50 per hour. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weather permitting. Hosts walk to various locations throughout the Zoo and may be exposed to outdoor elements. The role requires walking, standing, speaking, hearing, and interacting with the public, children, visitors, and staff, as well as lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Passion for the mission of Seneca Park Zoo.
- Experience with early childhood education, party or event hosting, or equivalent.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable communicating with adults and children and facilitating activities.
- Comfortable calculating and collecting payments.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, customer-service, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well with team members and switch tasks as required.
- Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- Weekend availability is required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive demeanor while interacting with guests of all ages.
- Work as part of a team, communicate clearly, and complete written reflections.
- Be punctual, reliable, and professional.
- Maintain customer satisfaction and solve problems when necessary.
- Set up and take down the party room.
- Serve food and facilitate crafts and games for party guests.
- Assist coordinators with other duties as assigned.
