About The Position

SpaceX is seeking a BIM Specialist to lead Building Information Modeling (BIM) integration and coordination for fast-paced, multidisciplinary projects supporting Starship production and launch sites, data centers, and offices. The role serves as a key technical resource for buildings and the systems within them, managing BIM across the project lifecycle from design through construction and turnover. The BIM Specialist develops and maintains models for multiple engineering disciplines, coordinates models among internal engineers and external design consultants, and supports design and construction teams in maintaining a living model that culminates in an as-built facility model. The position is based onsite in Starbase, Texas; remote work is not considered. Travel to other SpaceX locations and extended hours or weekends may be needed for mission-critical projects and site operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a BIM Specialist or Modeler in a construction or engineering environment.
  • Must be willing to travel to various SpaceX locations for mission-critical projects.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends to align with project deadlines and site operations.
  • Must meet U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in BIM coordination, with multidisciplinary experience on high-rise projects.
  • Experience modeling multiple disciplines, such as architecture, structural, and MEP.
  • Experience owning BIM coordination through construction administration on multiple large-scale projects, such as high-rises, factories, or data centers, and familiarity with construction means and methods.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, along with Navisworks and related plugins.
  • BIM certification, such as Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design, Structure, or MEP, or an AGC BIM Certificate.
  • Knowledge of advanced BIM integrations, such as reality capture using laser scanning with Trimble or Leica, or VR/AR visualizations.
  • Design experience in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Siemens NX.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed 3D BIM models for architecture, structure, MEP, fire and life safety, tooling/equipment, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Perform clash detection, model coordination, and constructability reviews to identify and resolve conflicts during design and construction.
  • Lead BIM coordination between external design consultants and internal responsible engineers on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to establish and maintain BIM standards, protocols, and workflows.
  • Serve as the primary BIM resource for team members, internal customers, and external design consultants; address technical issues and optimize BIM processes.
  • Work with design and construction teams to maintain a living model and produce an as-built model of the facility.
  • Lead the transition of BIM workflows from third-party providers to in-house operations, including data migration and process documentation.
  • Generate construction documentation, shop drawings, quantity takeoffs, and visualizations for bidding, procurement, and on-site execution.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in BIM environments and recommend software, tools, or process improvements.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings, providing BIM expertise to inform design decisions and mitigate risks.
