About The Position

Under close supervision, perform basic, routine administrative duties following well-defined, standard procedures. Assist with document processing, compiling special reports, and requesting information from other areas. Aid in filing and retrieval of information in both hard copy and electronic formats. Answer telephone, take messages, and communicate via email (Microsoft Outlook) as necessary. Receive and distribute incoming and outgoing mail. Use a computer keyboard to enter data, perform calculations, and/or retrieve information. Utilize a 10-key calculator and operate a variety of electronic and mechanical office equipment. Complete daily billing workflows, usage history requests, and reports. Perform repetitious tasks with accuracy. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to listen to and understand written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively with coworkers and customers. The ideal candidate will answer phone calls clearly with a friendly, helpful tone, record messages accurately, and work productively with others, actively assisting colleagues to maintain department productivity. A customer focus is essential, including answering customer questions and knowing when to refer issues to others. The candidate will actively learn the department's functions and employee responsibilities to assist customers more effectively and exhibit concern and sensitivity to others. The role also involves applying basic education and training to job responsibilities, asking questions when unsure, and demonstrating initiative to handle assignments beyond the basic, routine level.

Requirements

  • High school or GED.
  • At least six months' experience in utilizing administrative office procedures, practices, and equipment.
  • Primary responsibility will be billing and maintaining residential and commercial accounts.
  • Sedentary Physical Demand Level.
  • Ability to organize data and processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and 10-key calculator.
  • Positive attitude and self-motivated.
  • Detail oriented and accurate.
  • Punctual, flexible, and adaptable to ever changing demands and workloads.
  • Basic understanding of the deregulated electric Texas market.
  • Ability to see information on computer screen and use computer keyboard.
  • Ability to hear spoken words via telephone, cell phone, or during individual or group meetings.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time (min of 8 hr shifts).
