About The Position

As a Billing Assistant, you will support the Revenue Cycle Management team through administrative functions. American Vision Partners (AVP) partners with ophthalmology practices and provides management systems, operational infrastructure, and technology to support patient care. AVP operates more than 100 eye care centers across Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, California, and Texas, including 25 ambulatory surgical centers. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of experience in a medical billing environment.
Working knowledge of CMS guidelines, contracted insurance guidelines, and coding policies.
Demonstrated computer and math skills.
Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and regulations, and to maintain professionalism.

Ophthalmology background.

Responsibilities

Maintain phones by answering incoming calls and placing outgoing calls as needed.
Scan miscellaneous paperwork that needs to be filed and associated with a patient account.
Create daily deposits for incoming mail payments.
Assist the Payment Posting team with posting approved adjustments and refunds.
Scan incoming mail and distribute it according to department policy.
Process credit card payments related to incoming mail payments.
Update demographic information as necessary to produce a clean patient statement.
Order and maintain inventory of supplies.
Manage office equipment.
Provide backup support for Charge and Payment Posters as needed.
Perform other assigned duties.
