About The Position

The Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) Therapist provides crisis intervention, short- or long-term therapy, and group counseling for children, adolescents, and adult survivors of sexual assault or abuse, as well as their non-offending significant others. The role supports collaboration and synergy across YWCA programs and contributes to racial justice work. The Therapist collaborates with the Associate Director of the Clinical Program, other SVSS staff, volunteers, and YWCA staff. The position maintains an active caseload averaging 18–20 clients and provides counseling, group services, workshops, intake screening, referrals, and advocacy. The Therapist may contribute to community coalitions, help develop services for underserved populations, and assist with special programs. This is an exempt, full-time role in the SVSS/Patterson McDaniel Center Clinical Program. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with three days per week in the office and at least two evenings of work per week; the schedule may vary based on agency needs. The work takes place in an office where survivors and their family members may be present, and requires professionally handling unexpected crises. The position involves operating computers and office equipment, moving between offices, walking, stooping or kneeling, and possibly reaching for or lifting objects. It also involves periods of sitting, telephone use, and computer use. The noise level is usually moderate.
