BILINGUAL NEWS ANCHOR/PRODUCER - TELEMUNDO BROADCASTING OPERATIONS
About The Position
Gray Media’s Spanish News Bureau is seeking a Bilingual News Anchor/Producer to join its award-winning news team. The position is located in Atlanta, Georgia, in the same building as Atlanta News First and Telemundo Atlanta, and collaborates with Gray Telemundo Stations across the United States. The role serves communities across various Southeast markets by creating and presenting news for newscasts and digital platforms. The position anchors or co-anchors daily newscasts and writes and produces newscasts across different markets. It also involves line producing, creating scripts and news elements, determining story placement and flow, gathering and editing content, producing local news packages, and contributing to digital coverage. The Anchor/Producer works with newsroom colleagues, develops community contacts, uses social media to build an audience, and may represent Telemundo at community and station events. Some travel to Southeast markets may be required, approximately three to five times per year.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in journalism, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with news-producing software; ENPS is desirable.
- Experience with editing software such as Edius, Premiere Pro, CS, or Final Cut.
- Strong English-to-Spanish translation experience.
- Native-level Spanish; able to write and speak Spanish fluently.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- At least two years of experience producing newscasts.
- Solid news editorial judgment and journalistic ethics.
- Strong news research skills.
- Good attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Integrity and credibility as a journalist.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to go live in the field using a camera and LiveU.
- Strong shooting and editing experience as a multimedia journalist (MMJ).
Responsibilities
- Anchor or co-anchor the newscast daily.
- Write and produce a variety of newscasts for different markets and digital platforms.
- Perform line-producing duties for newscasts and shows.
- Write scripts, create elements, and determine story placement and flow for newscasts and digital platforms.
- Gather, edit, write, and present story content accurately and without bias.
- Cover, produce, and edit local news packages for all markets.
- Collaborate with the News Director, reporters, editors, and producers on daily newscasts and specials.
- Use social media platforms to build a following and audience.
- Develop trust and contacts within the community across designated markets.
- Pitch stories, including investigative stories.
- Write and upload stories for online platforms and the Digital Desk.
- Produce specials with the news team as needed.
- Attend and represent Telemundo at Hispanic events on behalf of stations as needed.
- Attend and participate in station-sponsored events and assigned special promotions in different markets.
- Travel to Southeast markets for events, meetings, and news coverage as required, approximately three to five times per year.
