Bilingual Medical Assistant
About The Position
The Medical Assistant is the first point of contact for patient care and performs both administrative duties and clinical duties at an outpatient care site. The role includes varied, moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer-support assignments. Clinical work includes discussing symptoms, gathering and entering information in electronic medical records, taking vital signs, giving injections, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms. The Medical Assistant collaborates closely with physicians and nurses and delivers direct patient care as permitted by active certification. The position is onsite at Conviva Southside, 9418 Guilbeau, San Antonio, TX 78250, and reports to the Clinic Administrator. This is a patient-facing role included in the company's tuberculosis screening program.
Requirements
- Certified or registered Medical Assistant.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
- CPR certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant school or training program, or at least five years of experience and approval from a provider.
- At least one year of Medical Assistant experience.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Medication or vaccine administration experience.
- Value Based Care experience, including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for patient care.
- Perform administrative, operational, and customer-support duties.

- Sterilize and clean equipment and maintain examination rooms.
