About The Position

Be the face of Benefits & Community Support Services! The Client Engagement Specialist is part of the Benefits & Community Support Services Team, in Human Services, whose primary responsibilities include: Handling direct client interactions through front desks (Eagle, Edwards, El Jebel), Call Center, central email/fax/mail and other customer portals including CO PEAK — the official web portal used to apply for and manage medical, food, cash or other State of Colorado benefits online. Additionally this team schedules client interviews, completes case updates, creates new work tasks in the electronic workflow system, answers client questions, triages customer documents and inputs into the central processing electronic workflow, refers clients to additional services and supports as necessary and escalates clients requiring emergency assistance and/or those with service challenges. The Client Engagement Team is the public ‘face and voice’ of the Benefits & Community Support Services Team. Specifically, Client Engagement Specialists are the primary connection for Eagle County residents living in the Eagle Valley River area who need assistance in navigating, accessing, and understanding the wide range of programs, resources and supports available through Economic Services and our community partners. The position will variously work out of the main ES operation located in Eagle and/or the satellite ES office located in Edwards depending on operational and client needs. From helping families and individuals access programs that put food on the table, warm their homes, and find childcare to protecting those too young or too old to protect themselves, DHS is the team of people who ensure families and individuals in our community have what they need to live a stable life now and in the future. Benefits & Community Support Services(a division within the Department of Human Services) is responsible for administering a range of critical public assistance programs including Cash, Child Care, Emergency, Energy, Food and Medical Assistance, as well as connecting customers to other vital resources and supports.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills required, a bi-lingual skills test will be administered to confirm proficiency.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of customer service or related experience (human services preferred) or any combination of education, training and experience resulting in the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Google Suite

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service in-person, virtually, and by phone
  • Answer questions, schedule appointments, and resolve client issues
  • Manage client documents and referrals
  • Assist with public assistance programs like SNAP and Medicaid
