About The Position
The Master Technician performs vehicle repair and maintenance as assigned in accordance with dealership and factory standards. The role builds Customer loyalty by developing trust and ensuring confidence in AutoNation as a caregiver for vehicle safety and reliability. The technician works with the Parts Department and Service Advisors, diagnoses vehicle issues, conducts inspections, documents repairs, maintains normal technician tools, and participates in factory-sponsored training as appropriate. Success is measured by targeted production and Customer Satisfaction Index. Career growth opportunities may include Shop Foreman, Service Advisor, and Service Management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience as an automotive technician.
- Automotive technical training, which varies based on store needs.
- Attention to detail.
- Comfort with diagnosis.
- Organization and follow-up skills.
- Valid in-state driver’s license and an acceptable, safe driving record that can be maintained.
Nice To Haves
- Audi, Volkswagen, or European automotive experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle repair and maintenance work outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Communicate regularly with the Parts Department and Service Advisors to manage production and Customer communication.
- Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform repairs when authorized by the Customer.
- Conduct multi-point inspections and make appropriate recommendations to support vehicle safety and reliability.
- Document work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.
- Maintain an inventory of normal Technician’s tools not normally inventoried by the Service department as special tools.
- Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins and participate in factory-sponsored training classes as appropriate.
- Provide an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty.
