Under the general direction of the Director, Benefits, manages and administers all Canadian benefits programs which include day-to-day plan administration. This role involves managing and administering the Canadian Retirement Plan, serving as Secretary on the Company’s Retirement Committee, and monitoring the performance of Investment Managers. The analyst is responsible for reviewing and revising member plan booklets and enrollment brochures, communicating changes to employees, and distributing enrollment packages. Additionally, the role involves enrolling Group RRSP applicants into the Oracle system, managing RFP processes for group benefits and retirement plans, conducting vendor interviews, and composing strategy documents for senior management. Implementation of new vendors, negotiation of contracts, drafting employee communications, and reviewing documentation are also key responsibilities. The analyst will also manage and administer the Group Insurance program, including enrollments, disability, dental, extended health care, and life insurance claims, as well as process benefits enrollments for special handling employees and manage LTD and STD claims. The role acts as a liaison between beneficiaries and the life insurance carrier for life claims. The analyst is responsible for reviewing and revising group benefits booklets, monitoring and maintaining policies with insurance carriers, and managing external professional relationships with consultants, providers, and insurance carriers. Responding to employee inquiries regarding benefits eligibility, plan provisions, and claims, and resolving escalated issues are crucial. The role also manages the Company’s Employee Assistance Program, including communicating new features and managing contract renewals, and oversees the Service Award Program for Canadian employees, acting as a liaison with the vendor. Ensuring all programs meet provincial and federal regulations, staying updated on benefits program innovations, monitoring company costs, and recommending plan design changes are also part of the responsibilities. The analyst will select and supervise external benefits consultants, record keepers, and insurance carriers in conjunction with senior management, and assist Employee Service Center and Field HR Personnel with benefits-related difficulties. Producing reports as required, serving as Business Process Owner and Subject Matter Expert for Oracle HR/Payroll system benefits set-ups and maintenance, and performing User Acceptance Testing during upgrades are also key duties. Training and assisting Employee Service Center and field HR personnel with the Oracle system is expected. Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned may also be part of this role.
