About The Position

Prosperous Health San Diego is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to directly support clients in their behavioral health and substance use disorder programs. The BHT will report to the Program Supervisor and will be responsible for assisting with daily activities, monitoring client safety, and supporting the clinical team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care. This role is ideal for a compassionate and motivated individual passionate about supporting clients in their recovery journey. Behavioral Health Technicians play a vital role in ensuring clients' safety, engagement, and well-being, contributing to Prosperous Health San Diego’s mission to transform lives through holistic healing.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Registration as a Drug and Alcohol Technician recognized by the State of California.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health and substance use disorder principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and team members.
  • Ability to handle crises with professionalism and composure.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, cultural competency, and client-centered care.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s degree in Behavioral Health, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a behavioral health or substance use disorder setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support clients during daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist with the implementation of treatment plans under the guidance of clinical staff.
  • Facilitate group activities and educational sessions to promote engagement and recovery.
  • Observed and documented client behavior, reporting concerns or changes to the clinical team.
  • Assist clients with basic needs, including meal assistance, hygiene, and transportation, as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by following infection control and safety protocols.
  • Support clients in developing life skills and coping strategies to enhance their recovery.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and training sessions to ensure consistent care delivery.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and activities in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and client-centered care.
  • Stay informed about best practices in behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment.
  • And other duties as assigned.
