About The Position

The County of San Diego, Department of Behavioral Health Services (BHS), is recruiting for multiple Behavioral Health Program Manager positions. Openings may be in Adult Outpatient Mental Health Clinics, Adult Case Management, and Next Move, a County-operated outpatient specialty mental health program for justice-involved youth and young adults ages 11 to 21 or those at risk of justice involvement. The recruitment list may also be used to fill vacancies in other BHS units, including the San Diego Psychiatric Hospital, the Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment (CARE) Court team, and the Office of Public Conservator Team. Behavioral Health Program Managers provide clinical and operational leadership in their assigned programs. Depending on the assignment, they supervise clinical, administrative, case management, or multidisciplinary staff; provide clinical consultation; guide service delivery and crisis response; implement policies, practice standards, and program approaches; and monitor access, quality, productivity, documentation, resources, regulatory compliance, and client outcomes. They collaborate with County programs, community providers, hospitals, families, courts, schools, and other partners to coordinate person-centered care. The positions support staff development, quality improvement, and responsive services for adults with serious mental health needs and youth and families. The County’s hiring process includes application and supplemental questionnaire evaluation, interviews, background investigation and fingerprinting, and pre-employment medical screening. The anticipated start date depends on successful completion of medical screening or another mutually agreed date. The County is committed to veteran hiring, diversity, inclusion, and a just, sustainable, and resilient future.
