About The Position

University Health Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Evening Residential Program Manager to support our team in providing exceptional care to adults with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). This unique leadership role provides operational and crisis support across four group homes located in Downtown Kansas City, MO, all situated within a convenient 10-minute drive of each other. Our goal is to stabilize symptoms, build life skills, and help clients transition back into the community with confidence. In this role, you will have a tangible impact on the lives of individuals working toward mental health wellness and independence. You will lead and mentor a team of passionate Mental Health Techs (MHTs) across four nearby residential locations, providing clinical leadership, staff mentorship, and hands-on operational support. You will have the autonomy to manage your evening while always having the backing of your director to help navigate operational challenges.

Requirements

  • Master’s or doctorate degree from an accredited program in social work, psychology, counseling, or a Missouri-approved human services field. Applicants with bachelor's degrees and experience in the field should still apply.
  • Must be a Qualified Mental Health Provider (QMHP) in Missouri (e.g., RN, Social Worker, LPC, PLPC, OT). Applicants with bachelor's degrees and experience in the field should still apply.
  • Two years of human services experience, including at least one year working directly with a behavioral health or psychiatric population.
  • Licensed or licensable in the State of Missouri.
  • Social Work Standard: Master’s in Social Work requires a minimum licensure of MO LMSW (or a clear, immediate pathway to obtainment).
  • Must meet and maintain all requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy for travel between sites.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a willingness to work with multicultural staff and clientele in the Kansas City area.
  • Completion of required orientation and training within the established timeline.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and provide real-time support to evening Mental Health Techs across four group homes.
  • Conduct hands-on staff training and skills development during the evening shift to ensure high-quality care.
  • Travel quickly between locations to provide immediate, on-site crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
  • Implement Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), a transformative clinical practice for which we provide specialized training.
  • Foster a compassionate, therapeutic atmosphere across all locations that promotes client growth and empowers evening staff.
  • Work closely with daytime residential managers to ensure seamless shift transitions and continuity of client care.
