About The Position

FirstSteps for Kids provides evidence-based behavior analytic treatment to children diagnosed with autism and related learning differences, while offering employees a positive, collaborative, and dynamic work experience with ongoing training and mentorship. As a Behavior Technician, you will work one-on-one with young children to build communication, play, and everyday-life skills that support their success at home, in school, and in the community. The role offers the opportunity to see children's progress firsthand and contribute to their long-term development.

No ABA experience is required. FirstSteps provides and pays for RBT training and certification, and offers a clear career ladder with defined pay levels and opportunities for raises. The company notes that many of its BCBAs began as Behavior Technicians.

Requirements

• Be patient, dependable, and genuinely enjoy working with children.
• Have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with insurance.
• Be comfortable getting on the floor to play and moving quickly when needed.
• Meet health and safety requirements: childhood MMR and Varicella vaccinations and a non-reactive TB test.
• Have access to reliable transportation.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds, sit on floors and/or child-sized furniture, and quickly move from a seated position to a running stance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with children through work, school, or volunteering.
• Background in childcare, preschool or daycare, teaching or education, camp counseling or coaching, psychology, special education, social work, nursing, home health care, or another child-focused or helping profession.
