About The Position

FirstSteps for Kids is seeking a Behavior Technician to provide one-on-one, evidence-based behavior analytic treatment to young children diagnosed with autism and related learning differences. The role focuses on helping children develop communication, play, independence, and everyday-life skills that support success at home, in school, and in the community. No ABA experience is required; FirstSteps provides training and pays for RBT training and certification.

The position offers a clear career ladder with defined pay levels and opportunities for pay increases. FirstSteps emphasizes ongoing training, mentorship, collaboration, and career development, and notes that many BCBAs began their careers as Behavior Technicians.

Requirements

• Be patient, dependable, and genuinely enjoy working with children.
• Have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with insurance.
• Have childhood vaccinations (MMR and Varicella) and a non-reactive TB test.
• Have access to reliable transportation.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds, sit on floors and/or child-sized furniture, and quickly move from a seated position to a running stance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with children through work, school, or volunteering.
• Background in childcare, preschool or daycare, teaching or education, camp counseling or coaching, psychology, special education, social work, nursing, home health care, or another child-focused or helping profession.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with young children with autism and related learning differences.
