About The Position

Hands of Heartland is hiring dependable, compassionate direct support professionals to support an individual with a developmental disability who has behavioral challenges. The role provides services that address the person's wants and needs, supports personal goals and daily living, and reinforces therapies. Team members are expected to provide respectful support that preserves dignity and personal choice, and to maintain required documentation using a web-based system. Hands of Heartland has supported people with developmental disabilities in Nebraska since 1997. The organization is hiring for all shifts and offers pay based on experience and education.

Requirements

Be able to obtain certification in enhanced behavioral intervention.
Have a valid driver's license.
Have current automobile insurance.
Be able to pass registry and background checks.
Be able to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
Be able to use verbal and physical intervention to redirect a person or complete an emergency safety intervention when the person is physically aggressive or self-abusive.

Nice To Haves

At least two years of related experience or a degree or certification related to behavioral health.

Responsibilities

Support the personal goals of a person with a developmental disability.
Administer medications.
Plan and prepare meals.
Assist with activities of daily living.
Transport the person to and from a day program and community outings.
Reinforce therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy.
Address needs respectfully while supporting dignity and personal choice.
Complete and maintain required documentation using a web-based system.
