About The Position

Hands of Heartland is seeking a dependable, compassionate direct support professional to work with an individual with a developmental disability and behavioral challenges. The role provides support for the individual’s goals, daily living needs, therapies, medication, meals, transportation, and community participation, while respecting their dignity and personal choices. The position also requires maintaining documentation in a web-based system. The employer is hiring for all shifts and offers higher pay based on experience and education.

Requirements

Ability to be certified in enhanced behavioral intervention.
Valid driver's license.
At least 18 years of age.
Current automobile insurance.
Ability to pass registry and background checks.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
Ability to use verbal and physical intervention to redirect and/or complete an emergency safety intervention with a person who is physically aggressive or self-abusive.

Nice To Haves

At least two years of related behavioral experience.
A degree or certification related to behavioral health.

Responsibilities

Support personal goals.
Administer medications.
Plan and prepare meals.
Assist with activities of daily living.
Transport the individual to and from the day program and community outings.
Reinforce therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy.
Address the individual’s needs respectfully, preserving dignity and personal choice.
Complete and maintain required documentation on a web-based system.
Use verbal and physical intervention to redirect and/or complete an emergency safety intervention when a person is physically aggressive or self-abusive.
