About The Position
Hands of Heartland is seeking dependable, compassionate direct support professionals to work with an individual with a developmental disability who has some behavioral challenges. We have been supporting people with developmental disabilities in Nebraska since 1997. We are hiring for all shifts and pay more based on experience and education.
Requirements
- Ability to be certified in enhanced behavioral intervention
- Valid driver's license
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Current automobile insurance
- Ability to pass registry and background checks
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed
- Ability to use verbal and physical intervention to redirect and/or to complete an emergency safety intervention with a person who is physically aggressive or self-abusive
Nice To Haves
- Two years of related behavioral experience preferred
- Degree/certification related to behavioral health preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide services to address the wants and needs of people with developmental disabilities, which may include:
- Supporting personal goals
- Administering medications
- Planning and preparing meals
- Assisting with activities of daily living
- Transporting to and from day program and community outings
- Reinforcing therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy
- Ensuring all needs are addressed in a respectful manner with dignity and personal choice
- Completing and maintaining required documentation on a web-based system
