Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math.

• Knowledge of imported and domestic varieties, flavor profiles and production methods.
• Knowledge of industry trends in specialty wines and beers as they relate to customers.
• Retail experience.
• Ability to speak, read and/or write a second language.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering customers’ questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
• Maintain knowledge of department products and answer questions or make product suggestions.
• Assist with executing adult beverage category display plans and special in-store promotions in consultation with store management.
• Maintain familiarity with adult beverage product names, pronunciation, origin and industry terminology.
• Inform customers about Beer/Wine/Spirits specials and recommend products to meet their needs.
• Prepare, package, label and inventory merchandise.
• Check product quality for freshness, review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain a positive attitude and stay current with present, future, seasonal and special advertisements.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager when repairs are needed.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks, issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud.
• Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
