Bather (Flexible Working Hours)
About The Position
Destination Pet is hiring a Bather at Creature Comforts to bathe and care for dogs and support the grooming team. This is a hands-on, physically active role involving wet dogs, pet hair, cleaning supplies, and occasional accidents. The position requires lifting 50+ pounds and being on your feet for the duration of shifts, with frequent standing, walking, and stair climbing. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required; the posting specifies a part-time, weekend-only schedule with Saturday and Sunday availability. The role reports to the General Manager. Prior animal experience is helpful but not required, and training will be provided. Candidates should be patient, reliable, positive, coachable, comfortable working independently or with the grooming team, and able to use phones, computers, and facility software. Familiarity with animal behavior, coat types, or grooming preparation is a bonus.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
- Must be able to remain on feet for the duration of a shift.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
- Availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays is required; Saturday and Sunday availability is specifically required.
- Must be comfortable with exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal accidents.
- Must have patience, a positive attitude, time-management skills, and reliability.
- Must be coachable and able to work independently or as part of the grooming team.
- Must be comfortable using phones, computers, and facility software.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with animals; not required, as training is provided.
- Familiarity with animal behavior, coat types, or grooming preparation.
Responsibilities
- Bathe dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities with kindness and care.
- Blow-dry, brush, and prepare dogs for grooming appointments.
- Trim nails and brush teeth after training.
- Assist groomers as needed, including holding dogs and fetching or fluffing items.
- Take dogs outside for potty breaks.
- Keep the salon clean, sanitized, and ready for guests.
- Wash and prepare towels.
- Notify the front desk when dogs are ready to go home.
- Help with check-ins or phone calls when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
