About The Position

Duggan Academy is seeking a Head Coach for the Boys' Basketball team. This position is contingent upon sufficient participant numbers and funding. The role involves overseeing the sport and travel program, selecting the team, developing practice schedules, supervising students, checking athlete eligibility and attendance, establishing rules, supervising students during away games, issuing and collecting equipment, and securing building permits. The coach must be aware of MSSADA Rules and Regulations and possess CPR Training and completion of the “Concussion in Sports” course.

Requirements

• Knowledgeable of sport or activity.
• Good communication skills.
• Be able to successfully instruct and encourage athletes.
• CPR/First Aid and Coaches Education and Concussion certified are requirements for all coaching candidates.
• Must complete MIAA coaches education course.

Responsibilities

• Oversee sport and travel program.
• Select team for travel season.
• Develop daily practice schedule.
• Supervise students at all times.
• Check on eligibility of all athletes.
• Check attendance daily.
• Establish rules and expectations for athletes.
• Supervise students to away games on bus.
• Issue equipment and collect it at the end of the season.
• Secure building permits.
• Be aware of MSSADA Rules and Regulations.
• CPR Training and completion of the “Concussion in Sports” course (required.)
