Fencing Coaching Positions
About The Position
Avenues Athletics Department is seeking committed coaches to develop, plan, and implement its growing sports curriculum. The coaching role involves instructing student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success, while fostering integrity, pride, sportsmanship, self-discipline, goal setting, teamwork, and self-confidence. Coaches will be responsible for breaking down and teaching fundamental skills, attending all scheduled games and practices, managing practice and game plans, and handling administrative duties. Assistant coaches will support the head coach, contribute to practice sessions, gather statistical information, and attend meetings and events.
Requirements
- Head coaches have 3+ years of Saber/Foil head coach coaching experience
- Assistant coaches have 1+ years of fencing coaching or related experience
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well with student athletes, parents, faculty/staff and the athletics department
- Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to get training before the season commences
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport, with special consideration given to those having experience with the desired age category
- Enthusiasm, commitment, patience, and a passion for teaching the game are essential to this position
- Ability to motivate and provide positive leadership to our student athletes by following our school and athletic mission
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must be living in New York or surrounding area during the season

Responsibilities
