About The Position

We are seeking a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and reliable seasonal Bartender to join Reindeer Alley, an exclusive craft speakeasy Holiday Bar at Hotel Cleveland, Autograph Collection. The Bartender delivers exceptional drinking and dining experiences, prepares cocktails and beer for the bar and dining room, and remains attentive and hospitable to guests. The role requires prioritizing and multitasking, extensive spirits knowledge, an understanding of flavor balance in cocktails, and a friendly, welcoming approach focused on enriching the guest experience.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old.
Outgoing personality, positive attitude, and strong communication skills.
Knowledge of wine and beverage brands, drink garnishes, and prices, including comprehensive knowledge of wines by the glass and growing knowledge of wines by the bottle.
Comprehensive knowledge of the inspiration, ingredients, and techniques used in house cocktails, and a complete understanding of standardized recipes for classic and contemporary cocktails.
Ability to confidently recommend food and beverage pairings.
Knowledge of pre-check register operation, basic math, and handling money.
Knowledge of computer operations and ordering procedures.
Basic sanitation knowledge.
Ability to stand for extended periods, up to five hours.
Ability to reach, bend, and stoop, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Greet guests promptly and warmly upon arrival at the bar, seating them in a friendly manner within one minute of approaching.
Present drink menus, recommend beverages, answer questions, and take beverage orders from guests and servers.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to standard recipes, and upsell drink specials and food items as directed by management.
Execute wine service when necessary.
Check in regularly with guests to ensure their satisfaction with food and drinks.
Clearly communicate allergy and dietary restriction information on tickets.
Take tables in the bar or dining room as assigned by management.
Accurately and immediately enter drink orders into the Point of Sale (POS) system.
Accept payments, process credit card charges, and make change when applicable.
Learn patrons’ names and personally recognize regular guests.
Provide gracious, professional, and efficient service, maintaining professional conduct in view of guests.
Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests or problems.
Report equipment or bar maintenance problems to the Manager.
Keep bottles and glasses attractively and functionally arranged to support efficient preparation and beverage promotion; keep the bar stocked.
Maintain cleanliness throughout the bar, including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas.
Assist with restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies.
Perform additional or revised duties as assigned by management based on business volume and current needs.
