About The Position

This flexible Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) position is assigned to the Bay Breeze Event Center at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. The employee is guaranteed zero hours but may work up to 40 hours per week. The bartender operates a full-service bar, preparing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to order using established recipes. The role includes serving drinks to waitstaff or directly to patrons, handling payments, maintaining bar equipment and supplies, and ensuring proper accountability for receipts and inventory. The position requires frequent light-to-moderate lifting and carrying, pushing and pulling, and occasional lifting of objects weighing over 40 pounds.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must complete a background investigation with favorable results.
Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale, including knowledge of a wide variety of beverages and the ability to combine ingredients and mix exotic drinks.
Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolve the issue or seek assistance as needed.
Ability to follow cash-handling procedures.
Physical ability to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, push and pull objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to and over 40 pounds.
Ability to communicate clearly and deal effectively with the public.

Responsibilities

Operate a full-service bar.
Mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks to order according to established recipes, including exotic drinks.
Deliver drinks to bar waiters or serve them directly to patrons.
Receive payments or charge members’ accounts as appropriate.
Wash glasses and other bar equipment.
Prepare garnishes for mixed drinks.
Help stock service bars or portable bars for catered functions as needed.
Ensure proper operation of the bar and accountability for receipts and inventory.
Accept money, operate a cash register, and make change.
Prepare documentation for cash-fund accountability when required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
