About The Position

The Barista is an engaging and enthusiastic ambassador for Good Press, the restaurant, and the hotel. The role involves recommending menu and gift shop items based on guest cues, preparing coffee and tea drinks, serving food and beverages, and providing cheerful, efficient service. The Barista is expected to prioritize accurately and efficiently, maintain service and gift shop areas, and work to exceed guest expectations.

Requirements

• Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
• Basic math skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Clean and professional appearance.
• Enthusiasm for 21c.
• Must pass a background check.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Able to carry a full-service tray comfortably.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods.
• Able to lift at least 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a breakfast restaurant, coffee shop, or retail shop preferred.

Responsibilities

• Report to work on time and ready for scheduled shifts.
• Follow all steps of service and proper sanitation guidelines.
• Know drink names, ingredients, preparation methods, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.
• Speak confidently and enthusiastically about gift shop items.
• Prepare all coffee and tea drinks on the menu with care.
• Sell menu and gift shop items to increase overall sales.
• Serve beverages and food in a cheerful and efficient manner.
• Keep service and cash wrap stations appropriately stocked.
• Run room service to hotel guests as needed.
• Complete daily inventory and inform servers or managers of changes.
• Use the POS accurately to enter orders, accept payment, and close checks.
• Label, stock, and merchandise gift shop items.
• Complete posted opening and closing duties and side work.
• Maintain a positive, friendly attitude with teammates and guests.
• Provide a prompt, accurate report of income received during the shift.
• Maintain a clean, orderly appearance of the gift shop and restaurant service area.
• Assist with tasks assigned by a supervisor or manager.
• Verify that guests are at least 21 when purchasing beverages containing alcohol.
• Sell beverages responsibly with the customer’s best interest in mind.
