About The Position
The Barista crafts high-quality coffee and espresso beverages while delivering outstanding customer service and creating distinctive, authentic experiences for guests. The role includes greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages, checking guest satisfaction, and using expert knowledge of coffee and specialty drinks to create memorable interactions. The Barista prepares beverages to Lava Love’s standards, operates coffee-making equipment, maintains a clean and organized workspace, and supports inventory, transactions, menu promotion, team training, and resort-wide events. The role requires following food-safety and sanitation guidelines and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Passion for coffee and customer service, with a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays based on resort operations.
- Ability to regularly walk, stand, and sit for 6–8 hours per day.
- Ability to occasionally climb and use balance, and frequently use hands and arms to reach, carry, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to meet the role’s vision demands, including close, distance, and peripheral vision.
- Ability to work amid temperature fluctuations, including rain, wind, heat, and humidity, and moderate to high noise levels.
Nice To Haves
- Previous barista experience; training will be provided if needed.
- Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, milk steaming, and latte art.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and specialty beverages according to Lava Love’s standards.
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service and engage with guests to create a welcoming experience.
- Greet guests, take orders, serve food and beverages, and check on guest satisfaction.
- Operate coffee-making equipment, grinders, and espresso machines with precision and care.
- Maintain clean and organized counters, equipment, and dining areas.
- Assist with stocking, inventory management, and ordering supplies as needed.
- Follow health and safety regulations and food and beverage sanitation guidelines.
- Process transactions accurately using the POS system and handle cash and credit card payments.
- Promote and upsell menu items, including seasonal beverages, pastries, and merchandise.
- Assist in training new team members and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Support resort-wide events and initiatives by providing coffee and beverage service as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
