About The Position

The Barista at Café Ora provides superior customer service while maintaining a clean and attractive outlet for guests. The role includes greeting customers, accurately and efficiently preparing orders, processing payments, resolving guest concerns, maintaining product preparation standards, and following cash-handling and accounting procedures. The position also requires regular attendance and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count the bank, prepare cash drops, total other charges, and understand portion sizes in relation to pricing.
Ability to operate a keyboard and follow Point of Sale procedures.
Ability to effectively handle and resolve conflict situations, such as an inaccurate check total.
Ability to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.

Responsibilities

Greet customers promptly with a friendly and sincere welcome, listen to requests, and communicate clearly.
Prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
Ring guest checks correctly and close them using the appropriate payment method, such as cash, credit card, or house charge.
Ensure guest satisfaction and tactfully negotiate resolutions when guests are dissatisfied.
Maintain high standards for all product preparation.
Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment, service stations, and seating areas.
Follow accounting guidelines for receiving payments, verifying check totals, distributing tips, and managing the cash drawer and house bank.
Balance the house bank at the end of the shift and retrieve and return the bank to and from the vault to ensure accountability.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
