About The Position
Max Hospitality is seeking a Barback for Max Downtown in downtown Hartford. The Barback supports bartenders in providing service to guests by keeping the bar stocked, clean, and organized. Duties include cleaning spills, clearing and detailing tables in the tavern and at the bar, washing glassware, managing trash, stocking ice, replenishing mixers and garnishes, changing kegs when needed, ensuring straws and napkins are available, assisting with bar prep, and restocking spirits from the liquor room. The role also involves observing the bar and tavern tables to make sure guests have what they need. It can be a first step toward training for a bartending role.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.
- Ability to move quickly in a small space.
- Ability to stand, bend, walk, and lift heavy kegs.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Responsibilities
- Support bartenders in serving guests and maintaining an efficient bar.
- Maintain bar stock and keep the work station clean and organized.
- Clean spills, clear guest areas, and detail tables in the tavern and at the bar.
- Wash glassware and manage trash.
- Stock ice and replenish mixers, garnishes, straws, and napkins.
- Change kegs when needed.
- Assist with bar preparation and restock spirits from the liquor room.
- Observe the bar and tavern tables to ensure guests have needed items.
