About The Position

A barback is a bartender’s assistant who supports bar operations, maintains stock, and helps ensure a clean, efficient service environment. The role includes assisting bartenders with preparation and supplies, managing inventory, cleaning and maintaining the bar, and occasionally helping serve drinks and interact with customers. Barbacks may also change beer kegs, prepare garnishes, polish glasses, perform opening and closing duties, and handle minor repairs or urgent situations such as broken glass or clogged drains.

Requirements

Physical stamina to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication and customer service skills.
A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of bar equipment, supplies, and basic drink preparation is preferred but not always required.

Responsibilities

Support bartenders by preparing ingredients, refilling ice bins, restocking drinks, and retrieving supplies as needed.
Keep the bar stocked with liquor, mixers, garnishes, glassware, napkins, straws, and other essentials; monitor inventory and notify management when supplies are low.
Maintain cleanliness by wiping surfaces, washing glassware, sweeping, mopping, and handling spills.
Ensure bar equipment is in good working order.
Occasionally assist in serving drinks and interacting with customers while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Change beer kegs, prepare garnishes, and polish glasses.
Perform opening and closing duties.
Handle minor repairs and emergency situations, including broken glass or clogged drains.
