About The Position

The Barback Juicer supports bar operations by assisting with opening and closing duties, keeping the bar stocked and clean, and helping bartenders and customers during busy periods. The position includes monitoring and restocking supplies, checking bar equipment, learning menu items and cocktail recipes, serving customers, and handling transactions. It operates behind the bar, potentially near coworkers, in an environment that may be loud and involve hazards such as cuts, slips, and trips. Outdoor locations may require extended work in temperatures above 90 degrees. This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Days and hours are determined by each location and may change to meet business needs. The position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work; nights, weekends, and holidays may also be required. No travel is expected. Duties and responsibilities may change at any time.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Meet the minimum age requirement to serve alcohol.
• Courteous, friendly personality and professional appearance.
• Knowledge of menu items, including beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle tense situations with coworkers and customers calmly and rationally.
• Observant and thorough; responsible and punctual.
• Ability to meet the physical and scheduling demands of the position, including extended periods of walking, standing, or lifting heavy items and working nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to walk and stand throughout the entire shift; continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop, and wipe; and remain stationary for long periods.
• Ability to wash hands frequently and lift up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry, and wipe.
• Ability to hear and talk, with good close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus between the two.

Responsibilities

• Assist with opening and closing duties, including restocking garnishes, straws, and napkins and ensuring bartenders have clean towels and glassware.
• Keep the bar stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
• Check taps and appliances, confirm they are working properly, make minor repairs, and change kegs when needed.
• Keep the bar clean by wiping surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash.
• Learn menu items and memorize cocktail recipes.
• Take orders, prepare drinks, bus tables, open tabs, and process payments, especially during peak hours.
• Speak with customers, answer questions, and handle complaints.
• Maintain usage records and report inventory levels to help with reordering.
• Ensure delivered items are stored properly.
