About The Position

A seasonal Banquet Server provides friendly, efficient, and professional food and beverage service during home games and other designated events. The role focuses on prompt, attentive service and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Servers work with culinary, bar, and event staff, respond to changing guest needs, and uphold food safety and responsible alcohol service standards. They keep service areas clean, organized, and stocked, and help clean, reset, and prepare areas after events. This is a seasonal part-time position at the Ken Garff University Club at the University of Utah, running from November 3, 2026, through January 31, 2027. The hourly rate is $10.00–$14.00, and the role is tip eligible.

Requirements

Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects often.
Ability to carry at least 8 entrees per tray.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Punctuality and consistent attendance.
Food Handlers Permit.
Ability to respond to simple customer complaints or inquiries.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent GED; equivalent experience may be substituted.
At least 1 year of work experience in events, banquets, or restaurants.

Responsibilities

Read and understand banquet event orders.
Provide fine-dining-level food and beverage service consistent with service standards.
Maintain friendly, professional contact with guests and anticipate and meet their needs.
Set up and maintain food and beverage stations in locations throughout the building.
Maintain inventory for food and beverage stations.
Keep event areas and front-of-house staging areas tidy and organized.
Participate in setting up and cleaning food and beverage service items.
Work independently during slower periods.
Help create a safe and clean work environment.
Ensure work is accurate and complete.
Maintain a customer-focused, positive, and professional attitude.
