About The Position

The Banquet Server ensures quality customer service for guests during events and banquets. The role includes setting up assigned tables; retrieving and serving beverages and food orders according to hotel specifications and group requirements; and maintaining the cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment. This is a part-time to on-call position at the DoubleTree by Hilton Huntington.

Requirements

Ability to communicate satisfactorily with guests, management, and co-workers in a way they can understand.
Meet the minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages.
ServSafe and/or food safety training.
Alcohol awareness training, such as TIPS.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in banquet operations and/or hospitality.
Some college education.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for the clientele.

Responsibilities

Set up assigned tables for events and banquets.
Greet guests as they arrive and assist them with seating.
Take and retrieve alcoholic beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques when specified by function requirements.
Serve food courses and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with departmental standards and function requirements.
Maintain food and beverage safety and quality according to hotel, Shaner, and franchise specifications.
Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, acknowledge guests, and maintain positive guest relations.
Be familiar with hotel services and features, as well as local attractions and activities, to answer guest inquiries accurately.
Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.
Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned stations and service areas.
Maintain the cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
