Banquet Server / Event Staff - $16/hr
About The Position
The Bell Tower on 34th is hiring Banquet Servers / Event Staff for weddings, galas, and corporate events in Houston. The role is part of a small, fast-moving event crew and is suited to people who take pride in clean, precise work, arrive reliably, and remain calm when events get busy. Full training is provided, and no prior experience is required. Starting pay is $16.00 per hour, with raises based on demonstrated skills rather than seniority. Employees can build their schedules around school and trade shifts through a scheduling app. Strong performers may receive priority shifts, raises, and advancement opportunities to Expeditor, Bartender, or Event Manager. The position requires evening and weekend availability.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Have reliable transportation and arrive on time for every shift.
- Be able to push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds and remain on your feet for 6 to 8 hours or longer.
- Be able to use hands and arms continuously and bend, reach, and twist repeatedly.
- Wear an all-black uniform; required pieces the employee does not own will be provided.
- Remain productive when the pace increases and be dependable.
- Have or obtain TABC and Food Handler certifications.
- Meet the physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual Spanish.
- Bartending experience.
Responsibilities
- Set rooms according to floor plans, including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, staging, and props.
- Serve plated and buffet meals quickly and precisely during live events.
- Carry full trays with control, clear and reset tables, and keep stations stocked.
- Flip rooms between events on a schedule.
- Keep floors, service areas, and the dish line clean, dry, and safe.
- Work quietly and discreetly during speeches, toasts, and first dances.
- Take initiative, notice and correct presentation issues, and identify the next task without waiting for instructions.
