About The Position

The Banquet Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of banquet operations, ensuring smooth execution of events and maintaining high standards of service and presentation. This role involves supervising staff, managing event setups, coordinating with various departments, maintaining inventory, and handling billing and payroll.

Requirements

  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training staff.
  • Ability to supervise event setups and inspect rooms and equipment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for coordinating with various departments and guests.
  • Knowledge of inventory management for banquet equipment.
  • Experience with point of sale/automated sales systems for billing.
  • Ability to process payroll and manage gratuity distribution.
  • Skills in managing staff attendance and reassigning tasks.
  • Experience in managing casual labor.
  • Clear written communication skills for providing directions.
  • Compliance with attendance rules and availability to work regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, train, and manage performance of banquet staff.
  • Supervise the setup of function rooms according to event specifications, including linens, silver, china, and glassware.
  • Inspect function rooms and equipment for cleanliness, proper inventory, and setup before events.
  • Communicate with kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staff, as well as guest hosts, to ensure timely execution of events and quality service.
  • Adhere to federal, state, local safety and health regulations, and corporate standards.
  • Maintain inventory of banquet equipment and ensure operating supplies and equipment (OS+E) and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF+E) are in appropriate condition.
  • Supervise the clean-up of function rooms and the breakdown and storage of equipment.
  • Enter billing information into the point of sale/automated sales system to generate guest checks.
  • Process payroll for banquet staff, including calculating hours worked and gratuity distribution.
  • Check staff attendance, adjust schedules, and reassign server stations as necessary.
  • Manage casual labor efficiently according to quality, appearance, and skills standards.
  • Provide clear verbal and written directions to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
