About The Position

The Banquet Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of banquet operations, including staff supervision, event setup, client communication, and operational efficiency. This role ensures that all banquet functions are executed smoothly, meeting high standards of quality, service, and safety.

Requirements

  • Experience in supervising banquet staff.
  • Ability to train and manage staff performance.
  • Proficiency in setting up function rooms with attention to detail (linens, silverware, china, glassware).
  • Skill in inspecting rooms and equipment for cleanliness and proper setup.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for effective interaction with various departments and guests.
  • Ability to maintain inventory of banquet equipment.
  • Experience in supervising clean-up and equipment breakdown/storage.
  • Proficiency in entering billing information and processing payroll.
  • Ability to manage staff attendance and reassign tasks as needed.
  • Experience in managing casual labor.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Compliance with attendance rules and availability to work regularly.
  • Willingness to perform other job-related duties.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, train, and manage performance of banquet staff, including recommending discipline or termination when necessary.
  • Supervise the setup of function rooms, ensuring proper placement of linens, silverware, china, and glassware according to event specifications.
  • Visually inspect function rooms and equipment for cleanliness, proper inventory, and correct setup before events.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, engineering staff, and guests to ensure timely execution, quality service, and adherence to safety and health regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of all banquet equipment and ensure operating supplies and equipment (OS+E) and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF+E) are in appropriate condition.
  • Supervise the clean-up of function rooms and the proper breakdown and storage of equipment.
  • Enter billing information into the point of sale/automated sales system to generate guest checks and process payroll, including gratuity distribution.
  • Check staff attendance, adjust schedules, and reassign server stations as needed to ensure quality service during functions.
  • Efficiently manage casual labor in accordance with quality, appearance, and skills standards.
  • Provide clear directions to staff through verbal and written communication.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
