About The Position

The Banquet Houseman assists with service, setup, and cleanup for banquet functions while following local health department standards, Suburban Inns’ Core Values, and brand standards. The role is responsible for maintaining banquet and public spaces, preparing rooms according to event requirements and Banquet Event Orders, organizing equipment and storage areas, and helping ensure guests are fully satisfied. The position is part-time/on-call, with a varied schedule that requires weekend availability. It may be used as a paid internship.

Requirements

• Ability to interpret or extract information and/or perform arithmetic functions.
• May require typing, record keeping, or word processing.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be available to work weekends.
• Uniform shirt and nametag are provided; team members are responsible for Suburban Inns-approved pants and close-toed, non-slip shoes.
• Hair must be well-groomed. Facial piercings and tattoos not covered by the uniform require management approval; tattoos deemed offensive under the stated policy must remain covered or concealed.

Responsibilities

• Report to work in professionally appropriate attire and maintain a neat, clean appearance.
• Greet guests in a friendly, positive manner, ask questions, and make personal connections so they feel welcome and valued.
• Anticipate and meet guests’ needs and expectations, then go beyond them.
• Maintain and present banquet public spaces for guests.
• Clean and maintain banquet spaces, service corridors, suites, and other hotel areas where banquet functions are held.
• Set up public spaces and rooms according to event requirements and Banquet Event Orders, including chairs, cloths, and equipment.
• Organize and maintain storage areas.
• Maintain the organization and cleanliness of banquet equipment.
• Respond immediately to potentially dangerous conditions, such as wet floors.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Move or relocate furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain security of equipment, keys, and supplies issued each day.
• Clean the venue after events and assist with inventory, food storage, and other closeout tasks.
• Follow Suburban Inns processes and brand standards.
• Maintain regular and recurrent attendance.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.
