About The Position

Manor Vail Lodge is seeking a Banquet Event Manager responsible for the flawless on-site execution of all catering, banquet, and conference events. This role involves leading the banquet team from pre-conference through post-event, serving as the group's point person on the day of the event. The Banquet Event Manager partners closely with the Catering & Conference Services Manager to bring each event to life following the contracting and planning process. This position is crucial for the third stage of Manor Vail's group event process, where the Sales Manager contracts the event, the Catering & Conference Services Manager plans the details, and the Banquet Event Manager executes the event with the banquet team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 3-5 years of banquet, catering, or hotel/resort event operations experience
  • At least 2 years directly supervising banquet or event service staff
  • Proven ability to lead a team through live, fast-moving events with strong organizational skills and real-time problem-solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with group leaders, staff, and the general public
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Experience with event-management software (Delphi)
  • Experience with audiovisual coordination
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain a Responsible Alcohol Awareness/TIPS certification
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Deliver flawless, thoughtfully presented execution of every catering, banquet, and conference event, with a keen eye for detail in setup, service, and finishing touches.
  • Serve as the group's on-site point person, meeting group contacts at the pre-conference meeting and remaining their primary contact through the event; lead post-conference meetings to review outcomes and gather feedback.
  • Receive finalized menus, room diagrams, timelines, and event plans from the Catering & Conference Services Manager, and review all Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for accuracy before execution.
  • Lead and partner with the Banquets team to ensure setup and staffing levels match the needs of each event; sign off on Time & Attendance/payroll for banquet staff and maintain the banquet and catering tip pool.
  • Execute room sets, diagrams, and audiovisual/production needs per the finalized event plan, coordinating in-house and third-party AV vendors and working closely with the culinary team on food and beverage timing and presentation.
  • Post and maintain the weekly Event Schedule and daily meeting room signage; ensure accurate, timely event billing; maintain proficiency in Delphi catering software; flag additional service opportunities to the Catering & Conference Services Manager for client follow-up.
  • Attend Food & Beverage and Operations meetings and the weekly Manager's Meeting; maintain a positive, professional presence on behalf of Manor Vail Lodge; support other operational departments as directed by leadership during periods of lower banquet and event volume.
