About The Position

This position works collaboratively with another Band Room Assistant (Technology) and includes duties such as assisting with the setup, transition, and organization of classrooms, rehearsals, and performance spaces. The role ensures the safe transport of musical instruments and equipment for concerts and university events, and requires operating the department equipment van. Responsibilities also include maintaining the daily organization and cleanliness of the band room and equipment storage areas, assisting with basic instrument maintenance and minor repairs, sharing evening band room monitoring and supervision duties, learning and utilizing music notation software, assisting with sound equipment setup and operation for specific orchestra events, managing locker assignments, and maintaining inventory records. Effective communication with faculty, staff, student employees, and ensemble members is essential, along with performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to lift and transport musical equipment safely.
  • Willingness to learn basic instrument maintenance and music notation software.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain university driving authorization.
  • 3 Months General Work Experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup, transition, and organization of classrooms, rehearsals, and performance spaces.
  • Ensure the safe transport of musical instruments and equipment for concerts and university events involving instrumental ensembles.
  • Obtain and maintain university driving credentials.
  • Operate the department equipment van for approved campus-related activities.
  • Maintain the daily organization and cleanliness of the band room and equipment storage areas.
  • Assist with basic instrument maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Share evening band room monitoring and supervision duties.
  • Learn and utilize music notation software to assist with music preparation and notation projects.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of sound equipment for Studio Orchestra and Salsa Orchestra events.
  • Manage locker assignments and maintain accurate instrument and equipment inventory records.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with faculty, staff, student employees, and ensemble members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
