About The Position

The Bakery Sales Associate keeps the bakery department stocked, appealing, and operating smoothly while providing courteous customer service. The associate answers questions, makes product suggestions, handles customer orders, and helps address customer concerns. The role also involves preparing displays and special-order tables, maintaining product freshness and accurate pricing, and potentially assisting with bakery production and cake writing. The associate maintains department sanitation and follows cleaning schedules, health and OSHA requirements, company procedures, and production logs and approved recipes. The role may include assisting with deliveries and cardboard baling after appropriate training, minimizing shrink and damages, reporting inventory discrepancies, using company-provided personal protective equipment, and assisting in other departments as needed. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The position requires a completed or in-progress high school diploma or GED; no prior experience is required. Responsibilities

Keep the bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand.
Greet customers, make suggestions, answer questions about products, and help resolve concerns promptly and courteously.
Take customer orders in person or over the phone and determine customer preferences for size, flavor, and appearance.
Set up special-order tables during peak hours and shopping days; set bakery cases and build displays as needed.
Write on cakes when required.
Ensure merchandise is fresh, saleable, properly priced, and displayed with correct signage.
Handle spoiled, damaged, or soon-to-expire products according to company procedures, and remove unsaleable products.
May assist with producing breads, pastries, and other baked goods, following production logs and approved recipes.
Maintain general department sanitation and follow cleaning schedules and guidelines for work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases.
Dispose of trash properly and ensure work areas meet health and OSHA requirements.
May assist with receiving, unloading, checking in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack after training.
May assist with baling cardboard or related duties after training.
Help minimize shrink and control damages; report shortages or overages to the manager.
Cooperate with coworkers and supervisors to support smooth department and store operations.
Continuously improve job performance and use company-provided personal protective equipment.
May assist in other departments as needed.
