About The Position

The Bakery Manager leads team members and oversees department inventory, pricing integrity, and other operational processes requiring significant attention to detail. This fast-paced role calls for efficiency, effectiveness, and a passion for excellence to drive results. The manager supports guests with friendly, accurate, and timely service, and directs the team in receiving, stocking, preparing, and merchandising bakery products according to The Fresh Market’s standards. The position requires schedule flexibility, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of management experience in grocery retail, restaurant, baking, and/or culinary work.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow department planograms, layouts, and schematics for merchandising.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and proactively assist them in a friendly manner with accurate and timely service.
• Make recommendations and accommodate guest requests.
• Manage order guides and ordering deadlines while reducing shrink and damage.
• Receive and stock goods properly, following rotation standards when replenishing product levels.
• Handle, slice, and prepare specialty breads, pastry items, and Convenient Meal Solutions throughout the day.
• Direct teams in properly receiving, stocking, and merchandising goods according to The Fresh Market standards.
• Engage, motivate, coach, and train team members on the job and through The Fresh Market’s internal training platform to provide excellent guest service in a safe and secure manner.
