About The Position

The Bakery Manager leads department team members and oversees inventory, pricing integrity, and operational processes. This is a fast-paced role requiring efficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence and results. The manager provides friendly, accurate, timely service to guests, helps with recommendations and requests, and oversees the handling, preparation, stocking, rotation, and merchandising of bakery products and Convenient Meal Solutions. The role also includes motivating, coaching, and training team members to deliver excellent guest service safely and securely.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hotels, or general business.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
• Proven ability to deliver an exceptional guest experience while achieving performance goals.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Basic proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Food safety certification, or ability to obtain certification after hire.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree in business, retail management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in grocery, fresh food retail, hospitality, or a high-volume specialty retail environment.
• Knowledge of inventory management systems and financial reporting.
• Bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and proactively assist them in a friendly manner with accurate and timely service.
• Make recommendations and accommodate guest requests.
• Manage order guides and ordering deadlines, and reduce shrink and damage.
• Receive and stock goods properly, following rotation standards when replenishing product levels.
• Handle, slice, and prepare specialty breads, pastry items, and Convenient Meal Solutions throughout the day.
• Direct teams in properly receiving and stocking goods and merchandising them according to The Fresh Market standards.
• Engage, motivate, coach, and train team members on the job and through The Fresh Market’s internal training platform.
• Support excellent guest service in a safe and secure manner.
