About The Position

The Bakery Clerk provides friendly and courteous customer service, assists customers with product selections, and supports bakery operations by processing, preparing, stocking, and maintaining bakery products and displays. Training is provided at the store level. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job. Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management. This posting is not an official job description but describes major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. Applicants must be 18 years or older.

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older.
Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift (4–8 hours).

Nice To Haves

For internal store/facility teammates, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For internal Store Support Center teammates, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
Internal candidates invited for an interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Assist customers with product selections, including suggestive selling.
Process incoming products from the bakery plant and direct store delivery vendors.
Package fresh-baked products.
Slice and wrap fresh-baked bread.
Stock product displays in cases and on shelves.
Rotate products and straighten displays.
Prepare outdated products for the thrift stores.
Order decorated cakes from the bakery plant.
Bake cookies.
Clean the work area and equipment, following company safety and sanitation procedures.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
