About The Position

The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous customer service and helps customers select bakery products, including through suggestive selling. The role handles incoming bakery products, packages fresh-baked goods, slices and wraps bread, stocks and maintains displays, prepares outdated products for thrift stores, orders decorated cakes, and bakes cookies. The clerk continually cleans the work area and equipment in accordance with company safety and sanitation procedures. Training is provided at the store level. Other duties may be assigned at store management’s discretion.

Requirements

Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift (4–8 hours).

Nice To Haves

For current Store/Facility Teammates: a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For current Store Support Center Teammates: a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline; interview invitations require manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Assist customers with product selections, including suggestive selling.
Process incoming products from the bakery plant and direct store delivery vendors.
Package fresh-baked products.
Slice and wrap fresh-baked bread.
Stock product displays in cases and on shelves.
Rotate products and straighten displays.
Prepare outdated products for thrift stores.
Order decorated cakes from the bakery plant.
Bake cookies.
Clean the work area and equipment while following company safety and sanitation procedures.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
